Joining God: Listen Together

How do we discern what God is up to and join in the work of the Spirit both inside and outside the walls of our churches? Where do we begin?

Listen Together is a starting place for this journey. It begins with grounding ourselves in the practices of listening and discerning - waking up to, and discovering anew, God at work around us. This guide is designed to lead you through a 4-6 week exploration of listening and discerning. Engage a small group, leadership team, board or council, an entire congregation or a group in your neighborhood who are curious about where God might be leading.  Meet, practice, dwell and learn together about where God is at work in your community.

Some questions to consider...

Do you believe in a living, active God that works through us and others through the Spirit?
Do you believe that Scripture is the living word of God and that through it God continues to speak to us today?
Do you believe that God is at work far beyond the walls of the church?
Do you believe that God’s reconciling work in the world probably extends far beyond our wildest dreams?
Do you expect to encounter Jesus in the life of others - both inside and outside our churches?
Are you curious about the hopeful future God has in store for your church?

There is a growing movement of people who are heartily responding “Yes” to these questions.

These are people across a broad spectrum of traditions and from different corners of the globe.
These are followers of Jesus from small country churches, large traditional congregations, small house churches, urban church planters, and more.
These are people who know they don’t have it all figured out, but who are trying new things and open and ready to listen and discern what the Spirit of God is up to in our communities.

If you answered "yes" to these questions then you too are part of this movement joining God. This resource is a wonderful way to invite others to begin to listen to others and name God at work in our neighborhoods and communities.
