A movement of God is afoot that is about rediscovering the mission of God in our communities. There is no more business-as-usual for our churches. The Spirit of God is calling us to join Jesus in our neighbourhoods.
The Neighbourhood Project is the place for you to be equipped in forming a community of faith that is discerning God’s presence and joining Jesus in the neighbourhood.
What You Will Do
Join a cohort of up to 15 peers, led by experienced facilitators from The Missional Network and Forge Canada.. Over 10 months, you will receive teaching and engage in practices that equip you in forming communities of disciples that are joining with God in their neighbourhoods. Come join us to:
to discern God’s activity in your neighbourhoods
people to join Jesus in your community
how to lead in disruptive times
congregation life from Sunday-centric to neighbourhood-rooted
The NP got our team to see the person in front of them. It helped the team focus on God's presence in their lives and in their community. It helped our team reflect on what our church was doing to minister to, for and with people.
Willie ReimerMinister at Willingdon Church, Burnaby BC Canada
After completing the NP, the youth minister at our church wants to integrate the four practices of listening, reflecting, dwelling and acting with the youth leaders. Rather than seeing a need and jumping in to fix it, this leader now wants to pause and see what God is doing and respond to His work among the youth. A church elder who participated in the NP wants all church leaders to join the NP! At first skeptical about Dwelling in the Word, now this elder looks forward to it in order to listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying to each person.
Michelle PorcoPastor at Riverdale Baptist, Whitehorse, YK Canada
This has been an inspiring and encouraging journey to meet with fellow Pastors across denominational lines and across the country. The stories from our church team gives me hope for the future of the church and God's mission on earth. The teaching that stands out in my mind and heart is "God is at work in unexpected places, unexpected ways and in unexpected people." The Spirit of the Lord is on the move in our neighbourhoods and I'm excited to join God in His work. Praying for open hearts, ears and eyes!
Pastor at Meadowlands, Ancaster, ON Canada
The NP has provided an opportunity to connect with other leaders and explore scripture and stories of God’s presence in the midst of ordinary experiences of life. It didn’t answer all my questions, but it provided a space to explore questions and a framework to continue to engage in conversations. I still hope for more conversations on topics of mentoring, dealing with grief, and envisioning an alternative future but this experience helped me to identify them as critical topics for our future as a movement.
Pastor at Community of Christ, Gilbert AZ, USA
The NP offers a fresh and authentic approach to ministry and church life. It created an opportunity for deep community with a small group within our congregation.
