Martin Robinson
Martin Robinson is National Director of Together in Mission, an organisation which connects denominations, networks and para-church agencies around the theme of church planting. He is also Principal of Springdale College, the other “face” of Together in Mission. Springdale College delivers training for the churches including an M.A. in Missional Leadership and a B.Th. in Mission.
Together in Mission: Springdale College is located within the church which Martin planted, with his wife Lynda, more than thirty years ago. This church, the Pavilion Christian Community, now runs a community centre which welcomes more than 2,000 people per week. Lynda is at the heart of this, acting as Community Development Coordinator. The enterprise acts as something of a missional test bed for the creativity of many, through church, college and consultancy.
Before Together in Mission: Springdale College Martin worked in a leadership development role with the Bible Society. Here he had the opportunity to partner with Lesslie Newbigin, developing aspects of the Gospel and our Culture programme. He originally trained for ministry through the Selly Oak Mission Colleges, which also connected him with the work of Lesslie Newbigin. Martin went on to complete a BA and PhD with Birmingham University. His first ministry post was a replant of a very small inner city congregation in Birmingham, which eventually became a multi-ethnic church with ten different nationalities represented.
He has authored and co-authored many books including Faith of the Unbeliever, Winning Hearts Changing Minds, Invading Secular Space: Strategies for Tomorrow's Church (with Dwight Smith), Planting Mission-Shaped Churches Today and Metavista: Bible, Church and Mission in an Age of Imagination (with Colin Greene).
